o 2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

o Rom 10:9 [fn]that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

· By grace through faith – a gift of God – it can't be earned

o Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and [fn]that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; Eph 2:9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

· We can disown Christ and abandon our faith intentionally, not unintentionally

o Hbr 6:4 For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, Hbr 6:5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, Hbr 6:6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, [fn]since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.

· Assurance – How we can know we are saved.

o Jhn 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

o Based on God's faithfulness

§ 1Cr 1:9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

o Because we have been given the Holy Spirit

§ Eph 1:13 In [fn]Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also [fn]believed, you were sealed in [fn]Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, Eph 1:14 who is [fn]given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.

§ Rom 8:9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies [fn]through His Spirit who dwells in you. Rom 8:16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, Rom 8:17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

7. Holy Spirit

· Fully God –

o Mat 28:19 " [fn]Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

· Third person –

o Mat 3:16 After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and [fn]he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and [fn]lighting on Him,

o 2Cr 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

· The Helper –

o Jhn 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

· Pledge/Deposit, Seal –We belong to the one who has put His seal on us.
